Scope and Contents

The caption on the reverse reads: 'Boys on Parade, Kibbi Trade School, Gold Coast. Kibbi is one of the four trade schools recently opened and designed to teach the 'dignity of labour'. The discipline of these schools is based upon Boy Scout principles'.

Guggisberg stated: ' - a Trade School of Boy Scouts at Kibbi [i.e. Kibi]. I must confess that I was sorry for Miss Cheesman having to tackle a subject so lacking in artistic possibilities as a tidy...
well-swept school-ground, but this lack of possibilities has been overcome by the skilful introduction of the harmattan mists in the great forest in the background. The Scouts on parade and at work, the buildings they had built, were all I wanted' (Guggisberg, Gold Coast News, no. 25).
