Scope and Contents
Miniature of Queen Victoria presented on navy velvet inside wooden box. An inscription on the reverse reads, 'This original miniature which was painted by Ernest Rinzi in 1898 as a design for portraits of Her Majesty to be enclosed in Lockets for presentation to native chiefs in the Northern Territories of the Gold Coast, was presented to the Royal Colonial Institute by the Right Hon. Joseph Chamberlain M.P. Secretary of State for the Colonies on behalf of the Gold Coast Government in Mar. 1900'.
