Scope and Contents

A box containing photographic material relating to plasticine models produced by Luck & Flaw for an illustrated version of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel, Treasure Island. Work on this book took place between May 1980 and March 1981. However, the project was shelved after completion and the illustrated book was not published until 1986, following the success of Spitting Image. The majority of the box's contents are comprised of transparencies and 35mm slides, which hold images of the models produced. These images were taken by John Lawrence Jones.

There are also black and white character reference photographs, along with contact prints and negatives, which feature portraits and situational images, such as knife fights. Roger Law, Peter Fluck, their former English tutor at Cambridge School of Art, David Joseph; and satirist Tony Hendra pose for shots. Other individuals used for character reference shots were people that Law and Fluck knew at a local pub.

Also present is a notebook that lists illustration ideas for each chapter of the book; the contents are in Law's handwriting.
