Scope and Contents

A file containing four issues of the British weekly political and cultural magazine, New Statesman. All four editions feature Luck & Flaw illustrations on their covers.

The following issues are present:

1. 27 April 1979 - the cover has a plasticine model illustration that depicts British politician, Margaret Thatcher, as a question mark. The photographic image was taken by John Lawrence Jones (L&F/234).

2. 11 May 1979 - the cover has a plasticine model illustration that depicts British far-right activists, Martin Webster and John Tyndall, as nazis. The photographic image was taken by John Lawrence Jones (L&F/173).

3. 15 June 1979 - the cover has a woodcut print of American politician, Henry Kissinger, depicted as a butcher (L&F/142). Accompanying the magazine is a black and white photograph of Roger Law, dressed in an apron and holding a cleaver; a reference shot for the artwork.

4. 14 March 1980 - the cover has a photomontage of a small Margaret Thatcher mask on the photograph of a chicken (L&F/235).
