Scope and Contents

A large visifile containing felt-tip pen and pencil working drawings, relating to Luck & Flaw's work on the illustrated versions of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. The former was published in 1979, by the Penguin Books imprint, Allen Lane. The latter was shelved after work was completed in 1981, and the illustrated book was not published until 1986, following the success of Spitting Image.

The A Christmas Carol drawings were done in 1978, and the following are present:

1. Ebenezer Scrooge sketches, containing portraits of various facial expressions, along with drawings of Scrooge wearing a coat and top hat (L&F/38 (b)-(c)).

2. Sketches of Bob Cratchit (L&F/40 (d); 41 (b)-(d); and 49 (b)).

3. Sketches of Mr. Fezziwig (L&F/45 (b)-(h)).

4. Sketches of Scrooge's niece, from different angles. All drawings contained on a single piece of paper (L&F/50 (b)).

5. A sketch of a man carrying a sack over his back, while being supervised by another individual (L&F/52 (b)).

In regards to Treasure Island, there is a rough drawing of Captain Flint's treasure map, done in felt-tip pen. This drawing was produced in 1980, and comes in two parts (L&F/65).
