Peter Fluck Working Drawings, c 1975-1983
Scope and Contents
A portfolio containing pencil and ink working drawings by Peter Fluck, along with one drawing by Roger Law, relating to plasticine model illustrations and ceramic ware produced by Luck & Flaw. These drawings feature caricatures of British and international politicians, members of the British royal family, and celebrities.
The following drawings are present:
1. Rough drawings of hands and feet; c 1975 (L&F/280 (a)-(b)).
2. A portrait of Prince Charles [afterwards King Charles III]; 1981 (L&F/281).
3. Portraits of Diana, Princess of Wales; 1981 (L&F/282 (a)-(d)).
4. Portraits of British journalist, Nigel Dempster. These drawings were produced in relation to a set of posters for the publication, Private Eye, released in 1981 (L&F/283 (a)-(c)).
5. A portrait of British Conservative politician, Michael Heseltine; 1980 (L&F/284).
6. A portrait of British Conservative politician, Geoffrey Howe; 1979 (L&F/285).
7. Portraits of British comedian, Bernard Manning; 1982 (L&F/286 (a)-(d).
8. Portraits of American tennis player, John McEnroe; 1982 (L&F/287 (a)-(e)).
9. Sketches of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Leonid Brezhnev, depicted as a nuclear warhead. This image was used for a model illustration that featured on the cover of an issue of Sanity, the magazine of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament; 1981 (L&F/288 (a)-(b)).
10. A portrait of American President, Ronald Reagan; c 1975-1980 (L&F/289).
11. Portraits of British politician and academic, Shirley Williams; 1981 (L&F/290 (a)-(g)).
12. A drawing of a Russian bear; 1979 (L&F/291).
13. A portrait of British Conservative politician, Norman Tebbit; 1982 (L&F/292).
14. Portraits of British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher; 1979-1980 (L&F/293 (a)-(f)).
15. A portrait of British Labour politician, James Callaghan; 1979 (L&F/294).
16. A portrait of British journalist and broadcaster, Alan Whicker; 1982 (L&F/295).
17. Portraits of British businessman and the husband of Margaret Thatcher, Denis Thatcher. These drawings were produced in relation to the Private Eye poster series, released in 1981 (L&F/296 (a)-(e)).
18. Drawings for a Prince Charles ceramic mug/loving cup; 1981 (L&F/297 (a)-(b)).
19. A set of drawings containing ideas for ceramic eggcups; 1983 (L&F/298 (a)-(d)).
20. A drawing for a ceramic mug with the face of British politician, Roy Jenkins; 1983. This sketch was done by Law (L&F/299).
21. Drawings for a 'Lord Gnome' toby jug, produced for Private Eye; 1982 (L&F/300 (a)-(c)).
22. A drawing for a ceramic mug with the face of French President, François Mitterrand; 1982. This mug was never produced (L&F/301).
23. A portrait of British broadcaster, Robin Day; c late 1970s-c early 1980s (L&F/302).
