Scope and Contents

A file containing a variety of material that relate to Roger Law's professional activities, while working for The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Magazine, both as a freelancer in the early 1960s and as part of the editorial team from the late 1960s onwards. These items include: two reader tickets for the British Museum Library, dated 1963 and 1973, along with a reader ticket for Cambridge University Library, dated 1972; a piece of card that has Gerry Cranham's black and white photograph of Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) mounted upon it, with instructions for retouching the photograph, and instructions regarding overlays to be used with the image; a small bundle of copies of memoranda from Law to the magazine editor, Magnus Linklater; proposals and drafts for potential articles; and a menu/programme and table card for the Alamein Company Dinner Night at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. In regards to the final items, Law visited Sandhurst with Jeffrey Bernard for an article, The Army Game, and attended the dinner on the 9 January 1975. The article appears in the 6 April 1975 issue of The Sunday Times Magazine.
