Large Transparencies, 1968 - 1975
Scope and Contents
A file of mostly 10" x 8" colour photographic transparencies, containing images of plasticine model illustrations made by Roger Law, which were published in The Sunday Times Magazine and other outlets. Other large sizes of transparencies are present. The file contains the following:
1. A transparency with an image of one of the models featured in the article, Who Counts in the Country Set, written by Roy Perrott, which was published in an unidentified issue of Nova. The photographer is unknown (RL/Pre-/733 (b)).
2. A transparency containing 'The Sun King' model of the media mogul, Rupert Murdoch, which featured in the 21 April 1974 issue of The Sunday Times Magazine. The photograph was taken by Brian Morris (RL/Pre-/736).
3. A transparency with an image of a model in the likeness of Welsh actress, Tessie O'Shea. The photograph was taken by Bob Cramp (RL/Pre-/743).
4. Two copies of a transparency with an image containing a model relating to the British Conservative politician, Enoch Powell, and H.M. Customs. This model was commissioned by The Sunday Times Magazine, but it was rejected; the image was subsequenty picked up by the publication, The Black Dwarf. The photographer is unknown (RL/Pre-/747).
5. A transparency containing an image of the model, 'Mayor Daley and the Pigs,' which was used in the 29 December 1968 issue of The Sunday Times Magazine. The photograph was taken by Irving Schild (RL/Pre-/769).
6. A transparency containing an image of the front cover for the 25 May 1969 issue of The Sunday Times Magazine. The photograph was taken by Julian Cottrell (RL/Pre-/774).
7. Three transparencies that hold separate images of three models, which were featured in the article, The Army Game, written by Jeffrey Bernard and published in the 6 April 1975 issue of The Sunday Times Magazine. The photographs were taken by James Cotier (RL/Pre-/1048, 1049 and 1050).
8. A transparency containing an image of a model in the likeness of former White House counsel, Clark McAdams Clifford, which featured in an article written by David Welsh and David Horowitz, published in an unidentified issue of Ramparts. The photograph was taken by Vano Wells Fagliano Studios (RL/Pre-/1051).
9. A transparency containing an image of a model featured in the article, How to Make Friends and Influence Arabs, written by Glenn O'Brien and published in the August 1975 issue of Esquire. The photograph was taken by Jerry Friedman (RL/Pre-/1052).
10. A transparency containing an image of a model that was commissioned to illustrate the lyrics to The Beatles' song, I'm a Loser, as part of the publication, The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics Vol. 1, edited by Alan Aldridge. The photograph was taken by Bob Cramp (RL/Pre-/1464).
