Queen, 1963
Scope and Contents
Two hardboard woodcuts containing print designs used in two separate issues of the magazine, Queen. One design was used for the 24 April 1963 issue, as part of the article, On the Street Where We Live…, written by Dennis Hackett (RL/Pre-/932 (c)). This was originally a three-print design, but only one of the woodcuts survive. It features a representation of a journalist at his desk, who has wings that have lost their feathers. The second design was used for the short story, Slippers Will Be Worn, written by William Trevor, which appears in an unidentified issue. This design contains an image of three portraits of two men and a woman in three picture frames, accompanied by flowers (RL/Pre-/1069).
