Illustrations of Political and Royal Figures, c 1956-c 1961
Scope and Contents
A file holding four pieces of paper that feature pencil illustrations of British political and royal figures (RL/Pre-/1527 (a)-(d)), by Roger Law. The individuals depicted in the illustrations are: Richard Austen Butler; Winston Churchill, Hugh Gaitskell, Harold Macmillan, and Queen Consort Mary (of Teck). There are two separate portrait drawings of Churchill and Macmillan, and also a piece of paper that contains portraits of Churchill, Gaitskell and Macmillan. On the back of the latter, there is also a portrait of an unidentified man. As Queen Mary died in 1953, there is the potential that her drawing pre-dates Law's studies at Cambridge School of Art.
