Talks on progress of Basutoland begin in London, 1958-11
Scope and Contents

Three members of the delegation from Basutoland which came to London for talks with Britain’s Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations, Lord Home, on Basutoland’s constitutional progress are seen here at the conference table during the opening meeting at the Commonwealth Relations Office. They are (left to right): Chief Kelebone Nkuebe, Professor D.V. Cowen (Basutoland Council’s Constitutional Advisor) and Chief Leabua Jonathan. Seated behind them is the Paramount Chief Regent of Basutoland, Chieftainess Mantsebo Seeiso, who attended the meetings as an observer.
