Kaffir Kraal, Mcabusi [Makabusi] River [historic title], 1890
Scope and Contents
Showing a group of Mashonas standing beside circular thatched huts with similar buildings perched on the granite boulders in the background. The original destination of the column had been Mount Hampden, but on crossing the Makabusi Pennefeather and the advance party found a kopje (suitable for fortification) surrounded by land far better than the marshy ground around Mount Hampden and here it was decided to make the settlement. Photograph taken about 10th–12th September.
