A forerunner of the British South Africa Company, The Bechuanaland Exploration Company was registered in 1888 to develop the mining concession granted to the Northern Goldfields Exploration Syndicate by Chief Khama of the Bamangwato the previous year. Exact location unknown, probably photographed either at Mafeking in May 1890 or during the trek through Bechuanaland to Macloutsie.
