Letter from Bessie Parkes to Barbara Bodichon, addressed from 17 Wimpole Street, 1863-05-18
Scope and Contents
The English Woman’s Journal will be much on Bessie’s mind for the next ten days or so. There have been many reviews of Bessie’s ‘Ballads [and Songs]’. The Portfolio [Club] is meeting the next evening at Emily Faithfull’s, though Bessie doesn’t wish to go. She gives her opinion of her current reading of Colenso. She encloses a long letter about a Miss Penny and asks Barbara what she thinks of the idea of her ‘coming over’. She says Jessie Boucherett’s new book is ‘capital’. Two pages.
