Letter from [Bessie Parkes] to [Barbara Bodichon], 1862
Scope and Contents
Bessie is glad that Barbara thinks the E[nglish] W[oman’s] J[ournal] improved: she has given it five months of incessant work. She gives figures for recent income and expenditure. She compares the fortunes of the EWJ and the Queen Newspaper, which they had feared would be a rival, but which is now being sold by auction. Bessie is having trouble keeping up with her correspondence.
