Letter from Bessie Parkes to Barbara Bodichon, 1862
Scope and Contents
Bessie is unable to do ‘Madame Luce’s work’ as she will not be in London for more than a fortnight between now and the 1st of May. She feels worn out with five months of incessant work. She hopes Barbara may be coming over in April. Max [Hays] is looking out for something to do but seems to have no resources although Bessie feels she would ‘gladly have the E[nglish] W[oman’s] J[ournal] if she could’.
