Girton: papers relating to College matters, 1924 - 1964
Scope and Contents
These include College Roll, Bursarial and other official matters, as well as domestic concerns.
1. Letter from Mary Clover informing Marjorie Tappan that she is an elector to the Cairnes Scholarship 26 May 1924.
2. Furnishing of MTH's rooms: letters from PK Leveson and Bertha Phillpotts about purchase of BP's sofa Oct 1926, letters from Cedric Ripley about fireplace tiles in B8 July 1938, letter from KME Murray and notes in MTH's hand of inventory [?] of Hollond furniture to be stored/used in College October 1945.
3. Letters to MTH about her College pension and stipend 1934 and 1941.
4. Notices, order of proceedings (copies of poems read), accounts and lists relating to a farewell Dinner for KT Butler [organised by MTH] on her retirement as Mistress] 13 August 1949.
5. Janet Bacon: notes and correspondence in the compilation of Janet Bacon's obituary written by MTH and sent to the Times 1953, as well as 3 offprints given to MTH by Janet Bacon 1930, 1932, 1939, and a poem 1924.
6. Two copies of a poem in praise of MTH's skill as College Bursar, celebrating her 30 years with Girton November 1953 [possibly written by KM Peace].
7. Speeches at Roll and other events: vote of thanks at Founders Memorial Lecture given by Helen Cam, 1956 (with letter from HMC giving outline of the lecture 6 February 1956), MTH's reports at Annual Roll Meetings 1956 and 1963.
7a. Copy of an inscription from Jean Lindsay to MTH inside the former's gift of 'A Cambridge Scrapbook' identifying MTH as the character 'A Good Don' in the book.
8. Two letters from the Rev. J S Boys Smith [Senior Bursar, New College, Oxford] to MTH (1 and 4 August 1956) about Supplementary Charter to Cambridge Act, 1923. Copy of Royal Approval of Scheme made under the Universities and Colleges (Trusts) Act 1943, 8 August 1947 with incorporations 1960 and annotation in MTH's hand 'ATF 1963' .
9. Letters from Ann [Bishop] and Norman Hepple about MTH's portrait for Girton 1964.

Conditions Governing Access
At the request of Marjorie Hollond's executor Section 2, 'Family papers and correspondence' is closed for 50 years from her death. These records will be opened on 1 January 2028.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Items listed as (9) were extracted from MTH's personnel file in 2007. They were with a note from 'S' [Sheila Gillies?] to the effect that she had been given them by MTH for the archive [circa early 1970s].
