Rachel's Furniture. Relates to a time twenty years since she moved into her 'town house' [circa 1986?]. Describes the business of filling 'the gaps in her furniture', 'once she had decided at long last to settle'. This chapter includes some retrospective on the escape from Vienna in 1938 and the fate of some her parents' furniture and other effects from Vienna.
