Letter from Gwen Raverat to 'Dear Freda' [Aelfrida Tillyard], 1930
Scope and Contents
From The Old Granary, Silver Street, Cambridge, 7 July [year not given, probably 1930]. 'I return your book with thanks; it amused me very much. But what a horrible world you have created; I think even worse than it probably will be in 200 years' time'. The letter presumably refers to Aelfrida's novel 'Concrete: A Story of 200 Years Hence', published in 1930. It is often confrontational in tone: 'I wish - - all you godly people weren't so - - self righteous' etc. AT has written 'Keep' at the top of the letter.
