Scope and Contents
Photocopy of Elspeth Giles’ diary 17 August 1919 - 18 May 1920; also an entry for Friday March 13 [1913?] (her birthday). 1 October 1919: she describes the day Peter Giles was made Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University. She mentions several Cambridge dances and dance venues, including the Vingt et Un Dance Club, the Duds dance [The Duds was the Cambridge University Services Club], and the Mi-Caverne dance. 24 December 1919: attends Christmas Eve carol service at King’s College. 1 March 1920: Girton College first year performance in aid of WUSS. 13 March 1920: 21st birthday celebrations; lists her guests. 28 March 1920: mentions gardening at Girton in a little plot assigned to her. The diary includes occasional sketches, particularly of family, also a sketch of Elspeth Giles with Dorothy Marshall January 1920.

Conditions Governing Access
The collection was closed until 31 December 2018, at the request of the donors. The only exception was GCPP Giles 3/1 which was closed until 31 December 2020.
