Scope and Contents

Two manuscripts, annotated and paginated. The first, written on blue folded paper watermarked 'J Whatman 1870', 98 pages plus 2 title pages with dramatis personae on the reverse. One of the title pages encloses the five parts of the manuscript, the other is loose and marked in pencil 'Rackham', this page also carries a watermark 'C Wilmot 1837'. Both are inscribed 'Ginevra. A Tragedy in five Acts'. The second manuscript is on lined blue paper, 160 pages, no title page. Also first revised proofs (incomplete).

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The first manuscript was originally in a paper wrapped bundle with Lays and Lyrics and the fragment of Love's Trial. There was no mention of Ginevra on the wrapping. The second manuscript was in a folder stamped '1819' with The Duke of Guise, the proofs of Ginevra and Duke of Guise (incomplete) and Lays from Scripture.
