Letter from Emily Davies to Anna [Richardson], 1864-03-15
Scope and Contents
Concerning the possibility of employing a Miss Green in Newcastle. ED has given up editorship of the Victoria [Magazine] and is now responsible for book notices only. The magazine has not paid, and Emily Faithfull will try new methods and lighter quality; ED cannot edit a light magazine. Encloses papers; many of AR's friends have signed the Memorial [for opening Cambridge Local Examinations to girls] and ED has had some very nice letters from Cambridge about it. At party at the [James] Wilsons' with Matthew Arnold, Bonamy Price, [Edward] Forster and [Walter] Bagehot, ED discussed women and scepticism with Bagehot. 2 pages.
