Letter from Emily Crawford to 'Miss Cam' [Katharine Cam, sister of Helen], 1908
Scope and Contents
With envelope addressed to Montreal, Canada and forwarded to Toronto. Dated April 3rd. She thanks KC for writing with news of her engagement to Dr [James] Harkness. She is pleased that KC is to remain in Montreal and 'very glad to hear of the possibility of your sisters coming to Bryn Mawr'.
Also eight small sepia photographs of the Bryn Mawr [College] buildings, which ECC enclosed with the letter: these are labelled on the back as follows: ‘Library Cloister, which encloses 3 sides of a square’; ‘Rockefeller Entrance’; ‘Pembroke Arch’; ‘Rockefeller Hall’; ‘Denbigh Hall’; ‘Library Cloister inside’; ‘Pembroke East’; and ‘Taylor, where the lecture rooms and offices are’.
Katharine Cam and James Harkness annouced their engagement in the spring of 1908 and were married on 2 May 1908. Dr James Harkness was Professor of Mathematics at McGill University, Montreal.
