Biographical / Historical
Jack Brunner Gold was a grandson of Sir John Brunner, a chemical industrialist, who started the company Brunner Mond. He trained as an architect (Trinity College Cambridge) and later became a researcher and restorer of Tudor portraits. In 1926 he went to Rome where, with a letter of introduction, he first met Eugenie Strong at one of her weekly Tuesday ‘At Homes’.
