Former trainees index cards: Bundle 13, 1938
Scope and Contents
Loan applicants completed and repaid. Index cards of applicants between 1914 and 1985 containing the following information about trainees: name, address, date of application, age at application, referees, guarantor, training and career, details of the loan given and repayment. The cards were almost certainly made from information held in personnel files before the files were destroyed. They were originally stored in a four-drawer wooden card filing cabinet labelled 'Former Trainees 1930 on'. The cards were removed from the cabinet and parcelled in bundles. These bundles were sorted into a single alphabetical sequence across the whole period 1914-85. They were re-arranged in November 2017 into a chronological sequence, by date of application, in order to allow the earlier ones to be opened in line with the Data Protection Act. Arrangement is alphabetical within each bundle. For some applicants there are several cards, particularly between 1914 and circa 1940.
