Scope and Contents
The file contains the following:
i) Flyer outlining proposals by Constance Hoster to establish a fund to help ‘the educated woman who is out of work owing to the War’, October 1914;
ii) Printed Report of the Educated Women’s Emergency Fund 13 October 1914 to 23 January 1915, produced by Constance Hoster of St Stephen’s Chambers, Telegraph Street, London EC [the address of the Queen Anne’s Typewriting, Shorthand & Translating Offices], including the objects of the fund, a list of donors and excerpts from letters of thanks from recipients of grants from the fund;
iii) Correspondence between C H and Miss [Gertrude] King, Lady Bertha Dawkins, Arthur Circuitt of Lloyds Bank, and L Gotto of the Professional Classes War Relief Council concerning openings for educated women in banks during the war and related training;
iv) Undated newspaper inserts relating to the fund;
v) Note relating to the transfer of EWWETF money to the Society, 26 September 1916.
