'Mrs Hoster's Scheme' (Educated Women Workers’ Loan Training Fund), 1908 - 1913
Scope and Contents
The file contains the following:
i) Constance Hoster’s correspondence concerning the establishment of the Fund and related disputes, 1908, including correspondence with Miss M G Spencer, Secretary of the Central Employment Bureau for Women, and with H John Falk;
ii) Rules for the Administration of the Educated Women Workers’ Loan Training Fund [no date: circa 1909];
iii) Minutes of the first annual meeting of the EWWLTF held at 2 Upper Berkeley Street on Wednesday 8th [no month: 1910?];
iv) Letter to Miss [M G] Spencer requesting information about the Central Bureau Loan Fund, 6 June 1910;
v) List of grants from the EWWLTF 1908-13, giving date, name [title and surname only], profession, grant, repayments, remarks.
[Note: the Society for Promoting the Employment of Women was initially reluctant to allow its name to be linked with Mrs Hoster’s scheme, but its funds were eventually transferred to the Society in 1913, by which time Mrs Hoster was Honorary Secretary of the Society’s Committee.]
