Pitman Intensive Business Course, 1931 - 1942
Scope and Contents
Isaac Pitman’s college had been recommended occasionally to Society applicants from the 1880s onwards but it was viewed with reservation by Committee members who were more familiar with Constance Hoster’s ‘genteel’ secretarial training establishment. However, negotiations during 1931 led to an agreement between Pitman and the Society for a scheme to provide financial assistance on his business course. Archives relating to the scheme comprise minutes and correspondence.
