Scope and Contents
Chiefly correspondence concerning the nomination of members of the Society for Promoting the Training of Women to represent the Society on the Council of the PCAC and vice-versa, 1932-86; also some minutes of the PCAC’s Education Committee, 1977 and 1980.
[The PCAC is a London-based benevolent fund, still active as at 2016. Begun as a War Relief Council in 1914, it was set up help individuals who suffered illness, financial difficulty and bereavement due to the effects of World War I. In 1921, it was renamed the Professional Classes Aid Council and was renamed the Professionals Aid Council early in the 21st century. By 1932 (possibly earlier) the Society for Promoting the Training of Women was represented on the Council of the PCAC and vice-versa. By 1988, Society meetings were being held at the premises of the PCAC.]
