Scope and Contents

The Managing Committee was set up by Item VII of the original rules recorded in the minutes of the first meeting of the General Committee, 11 January 1860 [see GCIP SPTW 2/1/1/2]. The whereabouts of the Managing Committee's minutes for 1860-1869 are not known but its work is referred to regularly in the minutes of the General Committee through the 1860s. The Managing Committee appears to have amalgamated with the General Committee (later Council, later the Committee) at some point: see GCIP SPTW 2/1 for minutes and related papers of the General Committee / Council.
