'Student Feminism in the late 1960s', 2010
Scope and Contents
52 page typescript extended essay / dissertation? No indication of author is given [possibly Margaret Dyson?]. Concerns the feminist thought and behaviour of late 1960s and early 1970s women students and their interactions with the organised Women’s Liberation Movement, focussing on Kent University, Cambridge University and the London School of Economics and on the years 1965-72. The research was based on ‘reading student newspapers and journals and carrying out oral history research in the form of written interviews with female students who were at the Universities of Kent and Cambridge during this period’. Written surveys were ‘sent out to alumnae, [including] 176 alumnae from Newnham or New Hall’. Respondents are frequently quoted, occasionally by name but usually anonymously.
