Biographical / Historical
The Cambridge Pregnancy Advisory Group was established in January 1973 by members of the Cambridge Women's Liberation Group and based, with the CWL Group, at 48 Eden Street, Cambridge. The group performed an average of 400 pregnancy tests per year, its main form of advertising being through the personal column of the Friday edition of the Cambridge News. The service was established because the group considered that NHS provision for pregnancy testing and supportive counselling was inadequate: the service was freely available to anyone in need.
