Decree as to division of tithable lands between the parishes of Duxford St John and Duxford St Peter, 1654-11-28
Scope and Contents
The commission was sought by the Master and Fellows of Clare Hall, Thomas Goad, LLD, and Thomas Buck, Esq., seized in fee of the parish of Duxford St John, plaintiffs, and Charles Parris, Esq., Samuel Mills, clerk, and Jonathan Dickman, defendants.
It having been the custom lately for all Duxford tithes to be gathered together and then divided between the two parishes, confusion has arisen as to boundaries of tithable lands. As a result of the commission a new survey and terrier has been drawn up, and enrolled in the court. Lands in the manors of Lacies and the Temple are to pay tithes to St John; those in the manors of Darbernon and Bustlers to St Peter. Tithes on lands not in any manor are to be divided equally between the two parishes.
