Draft or copy of a petition to the crown from the Vice-Chancellor and Heads, 1725
Scope and Contents
The petitioners seek alterations to Statute XXI, De concedendis gratiis, vesting power in the Regent House, and Statute XLI, De Capite, allowing individual members of the Caput a veto on every grace proposed.
The petition, perhaps never submitted, may have arised from the suspension in 1725 by VC Savage of William Campbell, Senior Regent, for contumaciously exercising his veto on the Caput. His suspension was reversed by the delegates on appeal.
The document is in Mawson's hand.
