27 Nov 1872 Theodore Maxwell - a junior doctor wrote to the Board explaining his absence with Dr Paget's permission
11 Dec 1872 Records communication about a ‘Home and Training School for Nurses’ to be established in Cambridge from Ladies Association. They seek permission to send 'two or more probationers into the medical and surgical ward for instruction' Letter sign by Mrs Harold Browne, Mrs C C Babington & Mrs Latham and others.
18 Dec 1872 They agreed to allow Probationers admission to the Medical and Surgical Wards for six months or more.
20 Dec 1872 The secretary asked to find out the result of a 'Hosptail Sunday' in those towns where such a day has been set apart for this purpose. [Hosptail Sundays were common in the UK up to and beyond the start of the NHS] See also Quarterly Court 31 Mar 1873 and Improvement of Funds Committee on 25 Jun 1873.
16 Jan 1873 As part of an appeal to get more subscribers, the entitlements of 2 guineas p.a. subscribers, 1 guineas p.a. Subscribers and Life governors 20 guineas are listed
7 May 1873 Secretary to write to the Unions requesting that all patients admitted via them come with a change of linen and 1/- per week for washing
21 May 1873 Dr Humphry to write to the Masters and Fellows of all the colleges asking them to double the amount of their subscriptions thus following example of St John’s and Clare Colleges.
Use of Australian meat in the hospital (p110)
25 Jun 1873 Colleges respond well thus avoiding having to close wards through lack of funds.
27 Aug 1873 (p136) Agnes Robertson resigns after 5 years in post of Matron. Advert for new Matron at salary of £50pa. Officially announced at £70pa with residence board and washing in the hospital at the Quarterly Court on 6 Oct 1873.
14 Oct 1873 Letter to Digby-Wyatt expressing disappointment at the dangerous condition of one of the stair cases as soon after the new building opened. Digby-Wyatt offers his advice and does a survey free of charge. Progress report ‘continued disappointment’ (p203-9)
20 Apr 1874 Recommendation to Quarterly Court that a ‘hospital Sunday for the town be held annually on the last Sunday in May and that the co-operation of the clergy and Non-Conformist Ministers be asked to carry out this resolution’ (see p330 for result)

8 Aug 1874 Letter from Lady Superintendent of Home for Nurses at 1 Ben't Place re new probationers (p363)
4 Dec 1874 Meeting of committee to consider erecting separate Wards for Infection cases in the Surgical Wards. Recommended a new building and a new mortuary (see p427) and also Public Appeal (p519)
6 Jan 1875 Board gave their thanks for 5 brace of pheasants, 10 hares, 20 rabbits from the Earl Hardwicke and 8 brace of pheasants from Mrs De Freville of Hinxton Hall.
27 Jan 1875 Letter from Rev Luckcock re servants parties given in the hospital on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Resolved ' Matron to be instructed not to permit any entertainment whatsoever to be held in the hospital without the special sanction of the Weekly Board'.
17 Feb 1875 Offer accepted of a gift of '25 monthly parts of the Household Edition of Dickens works'.
26 May 1875 Hospital secretary to write to Secretary of State informing him that many 'accidents occur to Coprolite miners in the neighbourhood from falling in of earth'. Request for steps to be taken to prevent such accidents (p498)
16 Jun 1875 Mrs Lavinia Stanley resigns as Matron.
