Counterpart LEASE FOR 20 YEARS of messuage or tenement in Tadlow, Cambridge, commonly called the College House, with the orchard and close of pasture adjoining, commonly called the College Close, containing c. 1 1/2 acres; and close with wood growing in Tadlow, of c. 1 acre; and close in Tadlow of c. 2 1/2 acres; all which premises were among other premises formerly demised by Kings College to Sir George Downing, long since deceased; plus piece of enclosed arable land lying in field formerly called East Field of 13 acres, 2 roods and 12 perches; and also piece of enclosed pasture called the Cinquefoyne, of 11 acres, 3 roods and 7 perches; another piece of enclosed arable land in field formerly called the West Field of 20 acres, 3 roods and 29 perches; another piece of enclosed arable land of 8 acres, 3 roods and 10 perches; plus south part of large enclosed ground in a field called Pincot Field of 20 acres; all which last mentioned premises formerly belonged to Sir Jacob Garrard Downing and were appropriated by the Commissioners appointed by the Court of Chancery to set out certain lands belonging to the said Sir Jacob Garrard Downing in lieu of lands belonging to Kings College in Tadlow which could not be ascertained by the Commissioners, because they had for many years past been enclosed and intermixed with the proper lands of Sir Jacob Garrard Downing; [boundaries and tenure for each given]; plus all appurtenances and rights excepting timber rights; all which premises were lately conveyed by Jacob John Whittington to Kings College in pursuance of a decree made by the Court of Chancery.
Rent: £1.6.8, one quarter [at customary measure of 67 pints to the bushel] of wheat, one quarter and a half of malt barley, or their market price in default; plus 24 chickens and 6 capons or £1.4.0 in lieu.
