Copy DEED OF EXCHANGE:
Sir George Downing, in consideration of lands hereinafter mentioned, gives, grants, exchanges and conveys all that marsh or meadow ground called Dingle Marsh, lying in Westleton, adjoining land of Richard Chestin, containing c. 30 acres, with the skirts and walks lying between the said marsh and the lane leading to Richard Chestin's;
The said Bayliffs, Burgesses and Commonalty, in consideration of lands hereinbefore mentioned, give, grant, exchange and convey the dwelling house called the Hospital situate in Dunwich, now in possession of Mary Elsen, with all yards, Chappel yards, hempland etc, containing c. 4 acres; the Hospital meadow and ploughed ground adjoining to the bridge containing 2 acres, the Hospital Hill and ploughed piece adjoining containing 8 acres, a piece adjoining to Marbles Piece containing 3 acres, a lamb pightle adjoining to Mr Kingswood's containing 1 1/2 acres, the piece called the Watering Piece containing 4 acres; piece before [The] Place gates containing 1/2 acres, a piece lying in the 30 acres of c. 2 acres, a piece in Claypit Lane between Mr Swatman's 5 acres and his 12 acres, containing 2 acres, piece in the same lane next a piece called Bonner's Acre of c. 4 acres, 2 closes by Dunwich Common called St James Closes of c. 10 acres, one piece adjoining to Mr Downing's of c. 1/2 rood, one piece now containing c. 3 roods lying between the lands of Mr Back and abutting on east Burnt Hill and west on Dunwich Brook; all which last mentioned premises, in Dunwich, belong to the Hospital; also all that piece of meadow or marsh ground adjoining to Mr Long's Little Dingle, in Westleton, containing c. 1 1/2 acres; one piece of land abutting west on Dingle Lane in Westleton of c. 2 acres, belonging to said hospital; and also the profits and benefits of the fair held on 25 July for ever in Dunwich, which belongs to said hospital; and also those 2 pieces of arable land in Dunwich called Church Pieces of c. 3 acres, belonging to Dunwich Church; piece of meadow ground called Church Burns, near to Dunwich, lying in Westleton, of c. 6 acres, belonging to Dunwich Church; all those houses in Dunwich called the Masondieu with their hempland and yards; marsh called Masondieu Marsh and adjoining ploughed ground, of c. 6 acres; the piece called the Masondieu Hill of c. 3 acres and a piece of arable land lying in the east of Philip Howard's, of c. 3 roods; one piece lying at the at the south west corner of the Place Wall of c. 2 1/4 acres; one piece by Hospital Hill of c. 1 acre; 2 pieces lying before Place gates of c. 1 acre; one piece lying in Calvescote Lane, called Wretting Pit Fen, of c. 2 acres; one piece in the same lane between the lands of Mr Calver and Mr Chambers, of c. 2 acres; one piece lying at the bottom of Thomas Buck's seven acres; all which last mentioned premises are in Dunwich and belong to the said Masondieu; and also one piece of land belonging to the said Masondieu lying in Westleton and abutting west on Dingle Lane; and all other lands and tenements, hereditaments and premises with appurtenances lying in Dunwich, belonging to said Hospital, Masondieu and Church
