Letter [draft?] addressed 'Gent' - giving opinion, after research in Doctors Commons, that legal estate of Gregory Whale and John Pedley, being held in trust for Sir George Downing, therefore does not descend to heirs of Sir Jacob Garrard Downing [letter is referring to fine of 1716]; Standard, signed and sealed letters of summons to appear before Tithe Commissioners [x6]; Letter 30 Sept 1839 [to Frere and Co.?] from [Spencer Hotchkin?], referring to letter received from Mr Lee, the Sequestrator of the Croydon Living, requiring Mr Frere's advice; and with notes on various other matters re estate business; Letters to or from an unknown correspondent. First letter addressed only to 'Gent.', likely to be an office of solicitors; would have accompanied Sir Jacob's will if sent.
