Biographical / Historical

See history of marriage of George Downing and Mary Forrester for background behind this deed - why Mary gave up right to dower and George had, in 1715, given up any claim to her money / possessions. They failed in gaining Act of Parliament to obtain a divorce but in 1717 gained one giving legal sanction for them to live separately.
