Margaret Tait (1907-1996), of 7 Howard Place, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9HL, was the grand-daughter of Peter Guthrie Tait, Professor of Mathematics at Edinburgh, who married Margaret Archer Porter, sister of James Porter, Master of Peterhouse (1876-1900), and daughter of John Guthrie Tait (1861-1945) Professor of English literature and principal of the Central College, Bangalore, India. She was also a donor of papers to the University Libraries of Edinburgh and St Andrew's.
