Present: Robert Hugh Collingham, Walter Smith, and W. A. Randles from BT-H; Dr (later Sir) William Hawthorne from Power Jets and John Ruskin Joyce from the Asiatic Petroleum Co.
Hawthorne and Joyce exhibited a complete jet assembly and sectional drawing.
Agreed that owing to the extreme accuracy of manufacture required it was outside the scope of the BT-H Turbine Factory and that their Tool Room would not wish to undertake manufacture at the present time, even if they had the necessary equipment, which was doubtful.
Power Jets have two or three sources of supply: CAV, Ltd, Acton [formed by Charles Anthony Vandervell (1870-1955), now owned by Lucas] if immediate deliveries were required; Lucas, Birmingham - 3 months delivery; and Sims Motor Units, Finchley.
Isaac Lubbock [Chief Engineer] of the Asiatic Petroleum Co. is the patentee of the design of the jet.
On account of patent considerations still to be cleared up between M.A.P. and the Asiatic Petroleum Co., William Hawthorne advised that M.A.P. did not desire that sub-letting of orders for the fuel jets should be made by all parties concerned in the manufacture of the engines until settlement had been reached.
Rovers were obtaining the jets through Power Jets, and Hawthorne thought it advisable that BT-H agree to this arrangement at present.
Power Jets Ltd order in batches of 12 at a time.
Hawthorne also thought it would assist BT-H if they ordered the flame tubes which go inside the combustion chambers from Power Jets who have supplied them hitherto.
