Copy of confidential memorandum to Robert Hugh Collingham attaching a copy of a letter from Power Jets and two incomplete assembly drawings A.1600 and A.1270 as requested by RHC by telephone, 1941-01-10
Scope and Contents
Pencil note by Henry Nathan Sporborg to Robert Hugh Collingham dated 11 January on reverse:
'Mr Collingham, In thinking of this problem after our last meeting I wondered if it would not be necessary to use a double thrust bearing to take the accelerating or decelerating (I don't know which) that would be set up on entering or coming out of a severe dive. If this can be greater than the thrust due to gas pressure (causing a reversal of thrust pressure) then a double thrust bearing would be needed. H.N.S.'
