Letter to British Thomson-Houston Co. Ltd. for the attention of Charles Frederick Samuelson [Chief Turbine Engineer], 1938-03-15

 File
Reference Code: GBR/0273/WHITTLE 28a

Scope and Contents

He encloses 28b and draws attention to the modification of Clause 10 to take account of the fact that the actual work to be performed under the Contract will be performed by Power Jets at their own premises [underlined in pencil] but that BT-H 'may collaborate with us in connection with the Contract.'
He states that Samuelson informed him [LLW] last week that he was willing to agree to the conditions of this contract and requests written confirmation that 'in so far as collaboration already exists, and will continue, between the two Companies in relation to the work to be done under the proposed Air Ministry contract, the British Thomson-Houston Co. will from now regard themselves as bound by the terms of the contract, and will accept equivalent conditions in any contract which may be necessary' between the two companies. He draws attention to the essential conditions in Clause 7 (secrecy), Clause 8 (drawings) and Clause 9 (patents).
'We confirm that we have already received from you, through Squadron-Leader Whittle, copies of the negatives and positives of the photographs which are to accompany Squadron-Leader Whittle's report, constituting Item 1 under the Research Contract.'
See WHITTLE 37 for the presence of these items in this file.
