Annual Reports, Annual Reviews and Gender Pay Gap Reports, 1942 - 2021
Scope and Contents
This collection comprises Annual Reports and Annual Reviews for UCLES and Cambridge Assessment. It also includes Gender Pay Gap Reports for Cambridge Assessment.
Annual Reports were produced by UCLES and Cambridge Assessment from 1858, the first year of its operations, until 2016. They were presented to the University Council and published in the Cambridge University Reporter. They provide a report of the work of the organisation over the year. Formal Annual Reports stopped being published in 2016, when they were replaced by the Annual Review. This collection contains Annual Reports from 1942 onwards. Annual Reports from 1858 to 1876 are held at Cambridge University Library. Reports from 1877 to 1941 are included in the annual Bound Volumes of examination publications.
During the 1990s UCLES published Annual Reviews in addition to the formal Annual Reports. Designed for a wider audience, these provided an overview of the organisation’s activities. After a break of 4 years, Annual Reviews began to be published again from 2004/2005 onwards. The Annual Review replaced the formal Annual Report from 2016.
From 2017, organisations with more than 250 employees have been legally required to publish an annual report on their gender pay gap. This document reports the difference in average earnings between men and women working in the organisation on the ‘snapshot date’ of 31st March each year.
