Biographical / Historical
Subject Committees were established for A Level examinations to
1. Consider comments from examination centres on the A/AS/Additional examinations and responses from Awarders;
2. Discuss Scrutiny Reports from the Schools Council (and its successor bodies) on A/AS examinations;
3. Make recommendations on the need for and nature of revisions to syllabuses and the introduction or withdrawal of syllabuses
The subject committees met annually in the autumn term and membership included representatives from the Board, teachers drawn from a range of examination centres and geographical regions, and awarders for the A Level examinations.
Some of the following files include business conducted by the Subject Committees and their predecessors, Subject Panels, but most contain ad-hoc papers relating to O Level and GCSE examinations as well as A Level.
