George Wilson Meadley (1774-1818), biographer, published Memoirs of William Paley, D.D., Sunderland, 1809; second edition, Edinburgh, 1810. William Paley (1743-1805), Archdeacon of Carlisle, Rector of Bishopwearmouth, etc., was author of A view of the evidences of Christianity, 1794, and other theological works.
