Young, George Malcolm, 1882-1959 (historian)
- Existence: 1882 - 1959
Found in 9 Collections and/or Records:
Loose sheets (various sizes) containing manuscript additions annotated by Hart-Davis with galley numbers. As these additions appear in the galley-proofs in MS Add.7799/4, they were presumably made by Young after he had received the relevant typed chapters from Hart-Davis, but before the corresponding galleys were set up.
Loose sheets (various sizes) containing manuscript additions to the galley-proofs, each headed by Young with a page number of the dummy volume (MS Add.7799/4). The additions vary in length from a few lines to several paragraphs. Some have typescript carbon copies attached.
Contents of file marked ‘Baldwin MS.’, comprising preface, and chapters I-V, VIII-XI, XIII-XV, XVII-XVIII, XX, and XXIII-XXVI. Chapters III, IX, XI and XXIII are incomplete. Chapter XXIV is in typescript, and chapter XXV in both manuscript and typescript.
Galley-proofs of Stanley Baldwin, pasted on blank sheets bound in a dummy case. Deletions and minor additions and corrections have been made by Young on the galleys; while the sign ‘ MS’ indicates that a larger addition sent on one or more separate sheets (see /6 below) should be inserted. Pasted inside the front cover of the dummy ‘book’ is a sheet of explanatory notes by Hart-Davis, 12 December 1969.
Two manuscript drafts of chapters on rearmament (neither used in this form); typescript of appendix on Lord Robert Cecil’s resignation from the Government, August 1927 (not used); manuscript and typescript of appendix on the Indian crisis of 1929 (not used).
