Scope and Contents

An undated photostat of a letter from Nevil Maskelyne to S.B. Vince, 5 January 1811, informing him that he will be pleased to welcome him and Mrs Vince to the Observatory, and giving details of Mayer's Table illustrated by a geometrical scheme. There is also a note by Margaret Maskelyne stating that this letter was written a few weeks before her father's death. There are two versions of each item - the original and a copy.

Maskelyne begins by mentioning the preparations for the Bakerian Lecture to be given by S.B. Vince, and goes on to state that John Crosley has sailed for the West Indies and will be testing the timekeepers 3 Earnshaw and 2 Arnold on the voyage.
