Scope and Contents Letter from WSC (Bangalore [India]) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] in which he reports that he has stayed with Sir Arthur Havelock, Governor of the Presidency; describes his success at polo and reports that he is about to go on manoeuvres. He thanks her for sending him 12 volumes of Macaulay; says that he is reading the Republic of Plato and Winwood Reade's "The Martyrdom of Man", and makes observations on religion. He also says that he is envious of "Jack's" [John S Churchill's]...
