Sir James Mansfield (bap. James Manfield 1734, d. 1821) was at Eton College 1745-50 and was then elected a scholar to King's College. Here, he changed his surname from Manfield to Mansfield. His Fellowship was given in 1754, BA in 1755 (when he was also admitted at the Middle Temple) and MA in 1758 (when he was also called to the bar). From 1780 to 1782 he was solicitor-general.
